The Seattle Foundation is inviting applications to its Robert Chinn Foundation Grant Program.
Robert Chinn founded United Savings and Loan, the first Asian-owned bank in the United States, in 1960. To honor Chinn and continue his efforts to improve the civic, educational, and cultural quality of life of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the Seattle area, the family established a foundation in 1986. In 1994, the Asian Resource Center was built to further that mission and provide a location in the community for cultural, athletic, civic, and educational programs. With the sale of the Asian Resource Center in 2014, the foundation transitioned to a philanthropic organization at the Seattle Foundation.
Today, the RCF Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations serving children and families in the Seattle area. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in support of specific projects and programs in the areas of arts and culture, health, and youth development. In particular, the program will consider requests for programs that provide equitable access to diverse arts experiences; programs that provide outreach, access and education to Asian and Pacific Islander communities; and athletics, mentoring, and leadership programs. Priority will be given to programs that serve children and families, reach ethnically diverse communities, and have a broad impact.
